MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) ? Republican presidential contender Jon Huntsman is looking to set himself apart from his better known rivals with his foreign policy experience.
The former diplomat and Utah governor was set to tell a New Hampshire audience on Monday that he's uniquely qualified to address foreign policy questions that, so far, haven't been a deciding factor in the race. He is calling for a scaled-back U.S. role in international engagements, such as Afghanistan, and calling for spending cuts at the Pentagon.
The positions put him at odds with other Republicans. He says it is time for the United States to conduct foreign policy smartly ? but with limits.
The campaign has been dominated by domestic issues, especially jobs and the economy.
